This data Includes ALL S. aureus (i.e. both MRSA and MSSA) isolates.
Clinical Relevance
29% of S. aureus isolates tested were MRSA.
Empiric therapy of serious S. aureus infections should include MRSA coverage until final culture results known.
Nitrofurantoin susceptibility is provided for URINARY isolates only.
Even if urinary isolate is susceptible to nitrofurantoin this drug should NOT be used if patient has positive blood cultures for the same organism.
