Elective Splenectomy

First Step

Two weeks prior to splenectomy:

  • HiB⁽²⁾,

  •  PCV‐13⁽²⁾⁽³⁾

  •  Meningococcal conjugate vaccine⁽²⁾

Second Step

Eight weeks following PCV‐13⁽²⁾⁽³⁾:

  •  PPSV‐23⁽²⁾

  • Second dose of Meningococcal conjugate vaccine⁽²⁾

Third Step

In five years:

  •  Booster Meningococcal conjugate vaccine⁽²⁾ q5years

  • Booster PPSV‐23⁽²⁾
