Investigate for a Source of Infection

Investigations should be guided by history and physical exam

Must include skin, oral mucosa, lungs, abdomen, perianal inspection

2 sets of blood cultures from different sites (one set should be from a central venous catheter if applicable)

CBC, electrolytes, creatinine, AST/ALT, bilirubin

CXR or CT scan if there are respiratory symptoms
