General Information

Drug of choice for initial management of severe malaria (given by intravenous or intramuscular injection).

Oral preparation given as part of combination therapy to treat uncomplicated malaria.

Well-tolerated. Type 1 hypersensitivity reported rarely (< 1:10 000 patients)

Average serum half life: Less than 1 hour
