500 mg PO q8h (Urinary tract infection) 1000 mg PO q8h (Community acquired pneumonia in pregnancy)
Therapy of streptococcal, enterococcal infections as well as susceptible gram negative infections.
Commonly used for upper respiratory infections and urinary tract infection (when organisms susceptible)
Allergy/rash (immediate or delayed)
Cytopenias
EBV related rash (not allergy)
Antimicrobial class: Aminopenicillin
Average serum half life: Neonates, full-term: 3.7 hours Infants and children: 1 to 2 hours
Route of Elimination: Renal excretion (60% unchanged drug)
