Enterococcus faecium can often be found in gastrointestinal or genitourinary flora
Urinary tract infection
Infective endocarditis
Line-associated blood stream infection
Intra-abdominal infections (often polymicrobial)
Prosthetic device infection
Patients with infections secondary to vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) or known to be colonized with VRE should be on contact precautions.
