Burkholderia cepacia

General Susceptibility

Optimal therapy is unknown and antimicrobial therapy should be based on results of susceptibility testing.

Antimicrobial agents that have been shown to be more active include the following (although in vitro susceptibility can be quite variable): TMP-SMX, meropenem, ciprofloxacin, ceftazidime and minocycline.

Burkholderia cepacia is often resistant to aminoglycosides.
