Empiric therapy when broad spectrum of carbapenems is desired without the need for anti-pseudomonal activity.

  • Immediate and delayed-type allergy

  • GI disturbance

  • Cytopenias, eosinophilia, positive Coombs

  • Liver enzyme abnormalities

  • Seizure risk lower than other carbapenems
