Aeromonas spp. are uniformly resistant to ampicillin, amoxicillin-clavulanate, and cefazolin.
Aeromonas strains may possess multiple, distinct, inducible b-lactamases, and like other genera with inducible b-lactamases, resistance to extended spectrum cephalosporins may emerge during therapy with a b-lactam.
Sensitivity has been shown for fluoroquinolones, aminoglycosides, tetracycline,carbapenems, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole.
