Staphylococci, coagulase negative

Susceptibility profile sometimes mirrors that of S. aureus.

Half or less are similar to MRSA in that they are resistant to ancef/clox.

Can also be resistant to clindamycin and erythromycin.

Empiric therapy for infections pending susceptibilities is vancomycin.
