"Pansusceptible" isolates are sensitive to ampicillin, cephalosporins including first generation, TMP-SMX, fluoroquinolones, and broader spectrum beta-lactams.

Resistant strains may be R to third generation cephalosporins (ESBLs), and rarely to carbapenems (i.e. carbapenemase enzymes).
